I was super stoked when I pre-ordered this item and ended up being a little let-down after seeing the actual product. The graphics on the box are gorgeous, the cover of the journal looks just like the pensieve, the elder wand looks pretty close to Albus Dumbledore's wand in the movies ... that's where the good stuff ends. The vials, as beautiful as they appear, are made of a cheap thin plastic with very little weight to them. Had the quality of the vials, the latch, and the faux gold leaf been better, I would have kept for my Harry Potter collection.
I am a huge Harry Potter fan and was super excited when I saw this and preordered it. The notebook is awesome but the viles are a flimsy plastic. You would think it they would be glass or a heavier plastic. Cheaply made not worth the $20 in my opinion.
My daughter would probably rate this a five. However I found that the case was not superb. Plastic latch sprayed gold and the wand pen paint is faded. The journal itself is delightful with ample room for writing and quotes from the book series sprinkled among the pages.
I love this. I didn’t realize there are quotes throughout the book. The book itself is fantastic quality. The case is nice as well. I am a bit disappointed that the wand pen I received seems to be missing an entire section of color. Trying to decide if that is worth the hassle of sending it back for a replacement. Other than that issue, very happy with this set.
What a beautiful item. The bottles are plastic, but I don't mind because I'm not really going to be storing memories in them! My daughter is going to love it. The wand/pen is cool and the gold packaging is great to look at although the box is a bit cheap looking and the laminate on the back is coming off a bit, but other than that it is really an awesome item.. I'd buy it again for sure.
Great idea, as this shows a young one how to capture and review memories. My daughter started capturing her memories and something occurred to her that she thought should go in to one of the vials. We'll see what that was when she's ready to bring me to the pensive and show me.
For the price, I really wasn't expecting just how well done this is! The pen is nicely detailed to resemble the Elder Wand, the book has really lovely quotes throughout the pages, and the pensieve emblem on the cover is absolutely gorgeous! The vials are made of plastic, as is the latch on the case, so it falls a bit short in my book as a collector's piece, but overall, a very beautiful product and one that, I'm sure, any Harry Potter fan would appreciate adding to their collection!
Bought this for my son. He loves it. I like all the quotes scattered throughout the journal. He likes the look of the journal with the replica pensive. The wand pen is adorable and detailed. The vials are a bit flimsy but overall I’m pleased with the quality of this set.
