I was stuck in a rut. I had been living like there was no tomorrow until I was 27, which is the year that everything came home to roost and I started to long for something more than what I had. I had no idea how to live differently. In fact, when I met people who had careers and relationships and homes I sort of despised them because I imagined they had been lucky, or that they had been handed an easy life somehow. I had these big dreams when I was a kid, and then I had some bad things happen to me and I gave up.I don't remember how I found this book. It might have been in a used bookstore. But I am so glad I did. I took it to heart even though I tend not to believe in anything "frou frou". I did the exercises and started to visualize the future I wanted. Then an amazing thing happened...I started taking the steps that needed to happen to get the life I envisioned. It wasn't an overnight process, and I had to work hard. Sometimes it was a painful process. But it was real, and lasting. It worked.Fast forward seven years. I literally have everything I wanted and visualized. I finished my bachelor's degree and completed a master's degree. I am a scientist, as I always dreamed and I love my job. (Seven years ago, I was a receptionist - nothing wrong with that, it's honest work - but it wasn't my dream.) I met my husband soon after I started visualizing and we've now been married for almost six years, with a beautiful four year old. (Seven years ago I'd never had a long term relationship and had a constant broken heart.) I own a house and a new car and I have great credit. I have a good relationship with my parents. I don't touch alcohol or drugs. I am thin and fit and honestly I look better than I have in ten years. I am deeply content and often very happy. I'm grateful for everything, and I try to help others when I can.Maybe you won't have the results I did, but I bet you will if you put your mind to it. I bet you have goosebumps right now if you want something more for yourself! You deserve it. Go for it. I'm cheering you on!
This is what works..I seen a lady on daytime local tv about a golf book she wrote whom she named the famous golfer in the 80's who used visualization to get the ball where he wanted it to below he did it and with the dept he visualized was amazing..id considered this but there are so many who write these books like hucksters....This book is the real deal....its got meat on the bones so to speak...ill never buy another book for this fits my bill of where i want to be and how to get there...the author is a student of life..not making money on whats popular today....this is continuos study practice and reach your goal with relaxing techniques...we have to do the work one way or another..why not do it with what gets you the results forever
I remember reading this books years ago must have been the first printing ? When you say you remember do you really? As I read through the new version just received I had a lot OH Yeah I read that before. Books are great but you need to follow through with the exercises and apply them on a daily basis. That is a routine I am working on for a new habit. Simple to read Powerful to follow up on.

Someone passed this book to me in 1989. It's tattered from use, filled with underlined and starred sections. I still have it and read it nearly every day. It holds positive messages of personal empowerment and self-love, combined with real working visualizations and meditations, to focus on creating the foundation for the life you want. It is written in a gentle and loving way, conveying wisdom taken from the best of the world's spiritual traditions. No guilt trips allowed.I bought a new one to replace the falling-apart one, then decided I needed to pay it forward and give copies to people I think would find some peace and joy in it.I give it my highest recommendation.
She wrote many books. This one is a must have. She is a great teacher as can be seen by the words she used to write this book. Explains everything you need to know about creative visualizing. In part one she gives you the basics of visualization. Explains what it is and clarifies how every visualizes differently. Some people will see clear images and video in their imaginations. Others can only think of the image. She clarifies and speaks on visualization as"It is not at all necessary to mentally see an image." Because some will not see anything, but only sense or feel it. That will make you feel a lot better. She gives you basic steps to using it. In part two, she gives you techniques using meditations.
I love Shakti Gawain. I was introduced to her many years ago, and recently I've missed her meditations, so I ordered her CD. Before I only had her cassette, but no longer have a player. So, she is back into my days and her meditations really help me through difficult times. I love her thought processes and visualizations. I am a visual person, so her guidance is very helpful for me.
I read this book years ago and got it to give as a gift. It has the best definition of a higher power I've ever read, comparing it to a stream. We cling to the bank being afraid to let go, all the while being buffeted by logs and twigs floating down stream. But when we let go and go with the flow, trusting the stream to carry us where we need to go, we can lay back, enjoy the trip, see the flowers, the sun, the moon and the stars, and enjoy the trip, knowing we are being cared for and carried. We don't know where we are going or where we'll end up (if we ever end up anywhere), but we can trust that the trip will be interesting and we will learn alot on the way and we will meet some interesting fellow travelers we would have missed if we had stayed clinging to that bank.
